Mardi Gras turns 30 this year and the celebrations for this landmark anniversary are set to be enormous. With over 100 activities including cabaret, comedy, dance parties, the film festival, forums and workshops, light entertainment, literature, social events, sports, youth events and all kinds of theatre the vast array of events is truly mind boggling.
Highlights include Fairday on the 17 February, the harbour party on the 24 February and the climax of the Parade and Party on the 1 March, but there are dozens of events to keep you amused throughout the whole festival.
Nations United is the theme for Mardi Gras 2009 and we are extending a welcome to the world to come to Sydney to be part of the world’s most colourful gay celebration. This is a city that knows how to throw a party, but they learned it from us! No gay pride event in the world has been embraced by its local populations as much as ours. Sydney truly stops for Mardi Gras.

2008 is the 27th anniversary of this legendary pre-cursor to the slightly more famous - but definitely fluffier - Sydney Mardi Gras, and this year The Sleaze Ball promises another legendary gay night to remember with a darker and edgier feel to its bigger sister.
This is the dress up party night of the year in Sydney and you can never look too flashy, or trashy, for a night of sleaze which treads the finest of lines between glamour and gutter. This years theme is ‘The Villain’s Lair’ so expect those bad lads and lasses to come out of the woodwork for a night of excess and fun. Expect some exceptionally elaborate interpretations in the costumes of the party goers, all in true Sydney style of course.
